Obituary of James K. Oleole
James Oleole , born August 27,1927 in Kauai, Hawaii. Passed away on October 6, 2014 in Tacoma, Washington at the age of 87. Graduated from McKinley HS in 1945. He attended Ft. Steilacoom CC after retiring from the Army. Jim then went to work for the Metropolitan Park Dept., where he stayed until 1992 when he retired for the 2nd time.
He began his officiating career while in the military. "Ole" coached and trained countless individuals in officiating high school and college volleyball. In 1989 he was the recipient of the Wayne Gardner Match Point Honor Award for his leadership and devotion to the sport of volleyball in the community. As a member of the Western Washington Umpires Assn, Jim was inducted into the Umpires category of the Tacoma-Pierce County Baseball-Softball Oldtimers Assn in 2000.
James is survived by his wife Margie, sister Melba, brother Alan(Lisa), children James Jr.(Donna), Joann(Allan), Burt,Noble,Jackie,Jean,Joy and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM, Friday, Oct. 17 at Mt View Memorial Park. Arrangements by Piper-Morley with Oakwood Hill 253-472-3353.
