On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI), we offer our sincere condolences to Jim and Laura and all of Senior Chief Stevens’ family and friends as you mourn his passing. May God whisper peace into your hearts, comfort, and heal them. We are grateful for Bill’s service to our country in the U.S. Submarine Service. During WWII Bill served on the destroyer USS Taylor DD-468. Submarines that Bill served on were the USS Sea Devil SS-400, USS Blueback SS-581, USS Pomfred SS-391 and USS Pomodon SS-486. Bill retired from the Navy as a ENCS(SS) and was a member of the San Diego Base of the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI). To our “Brother of the Dolphin” we say … "Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. May you rest in peace and may God bless your loved ones who remain. Thank you for your service to our country." William J.
