I am Jim Bauer's daughter, Audrey, and was privileged to meet my Aunt Grace a few times when she visited Pittsburgh. One thing was for certain; when Aunt Grace came to town, the party began with her. We loved her visits. She had such a fun personality that lit up the room. Dad and Grandma were always excited to have her in town. For my brothers, me and our cousins, it meant gatherings at Grandma's full of laughter and stories. I met Peggy during one of Aunt Grace's visits and still have a picture of me on her lap.
The last time I saw Aunt Grace, I offered to get her a drink. I was surprised and amused when she said that she'd take a beer. Knowing her made my childhood brighter. I expect that her laugh made many laugh with her.
To my cousins, I extend my sympathy. I am sorry for your loss and sorry for how you suffered the past several years as Aunt Grace succumbed to such a hideous disease. I pray that God will ease the heavy load you have carried, and that He will help you remember the wonderful times you shared. May brighter days be ahead of you.
