Obituary of Mateo D. Delgado
Mateo D Delgado September 21,1922-July 16, 2011 Beloved husband of Annemarie for 61 years and father of Angelina, Irene (Anthony Saldivar-deceased), Henry, Roland (deceased), Gerald (Dolores), Marianne, and Mark (Cheri). He is also survived by his brother, Andres Delgado of Paramount, California. He is the honorable patriarch of a family that included 7 children, 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. As a young man, he joined the Army and supported his parents and 9 brothers and sisters. He was proud to serve his country in the Artillery in World War II and participated in the Normandy invasion. In 1948, he met his bride in Germany. He served in the Army Signal Corps in Alaska and Korea. After 23 years in the Army, he had a second career at North Pacific Plywood. During his retirement he continued to show his quiet pride in maintaining and remodeling the family home. The only room in its original spot is the living room. Each child has cherished memories of helping their father and learning new construction skills. He was a loving, honorable patriarch. Family was the gift that made life worthwhile. New additions to the family had to get used to the loving noise of family gatherings: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and birthdays. 30 people filled the yard on Father's Day. You will be missed and remembered always. The Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 30th at 1:00 pm at Visitation Parish in Tacoma. A prayer service will begin at 12:30 pm.
