Obituary of Louis J. Costanti

Louis passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2012. He was born on April 25, 1913 in North Bay, Ontario, Canada to Josephine and Frank Costante. In his early years he worked for the Ontario Northland RR and immigrated to the US to marry Amelia (Meme) Orlando in 1937 and they made Tacoma their home. Louis spent most of his career in the beer business with General Beer and owned Lindberg Distributing. Dad was a member of the Tacoma Elks, Society Christopher Columbus and a 75 year member of St. Rita's Catholic Church. Dad was known for his quick wit and ready humor. Dad loved gardening, especially growing tomatoes and basil, then sharing his plants and bounty. He took pride in and loved his Fox Island beach home, his Italian heritage and especially America. He was able to maintain his active lifestyle until his recent illness. He was predeceased by his wife Meme, his parents, brothers Sam, Geno, Mike and Rudy; sisters Mary, Lundy and Margaret. He is survived by his brother Albert and sister Amelia in Canada and his three sons Richard (Doreen), Tom (Janet), Mike (Barb), eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, a large extended family, many nieces and nephews and his special friend Santina Nordi. Viewing is from 1-4 PM Sunday at the Piper Morley with Oakwood Hill Chapel 253-472-3353. Rosary will be recited 7 PM Sunday and the Funeral Mass will be 10 AM Monday both at St. Rita's. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Rita's charity fund.
