Obituary
Obituary of Gary Harald Lucas
Gary Lucas was born on July 12, 1949 to Sonja and Russel Lucas in Nuremberg, Germany. He was their first-born. Gary's father was a military man and Gary was proud to follow in his footsteps. Gary served his country honorably.
He was the father of three children: Justin, Lindsey (deceased) and Anthony. He was also a father to John Phillip and Sunshine and considered them his kids too. He was intensely proud of all of them and bragged about their exploits and accomplishments whenever he had a listener.
Gary loved being a grandfather. He cherished all the moments he was able to spend with his grandchildren and enjoyed every visit and every update about them.
Gary's mother remained a constant in his life and they spoke daily. He loved her dearly. He also had three sisters: Madeline (deceased), Jeanine and Denise.
Gary was a tradesman and prided himself on his roofing expertise. Others in his field recognized this and he maintained many of these professional relationships until the end of his life, often being consulted by phone.
In his later years, he met Cindy, whom he considered his soul mate and spouse. Gary loved and cherished Cindy and made sure everyone knew it. They enjoyed seven years together before Gary was taken. Cindy stood by him throughout his illness, attending nearly every appointment, treatment and carrying out every doctor's order. She was with him when he passed peacefully on Christmas eve day.
He considered Cindy's kids his own, affectionately referring to Cindy's daughter as "Aguilera" as they traded sarcastic insults. Cindy's son credits Gary with standing by him through a very difficult time. Gary could always be counted on to brag about the latest goings-on of his kids and grandkids' accomplishments to anyone who would listen.
Anyone who knows Gary knows he was an avid bowler—forging lifelong friendships in the pursuit of the perfect game. His friends there were an important part of his life. He also loved a day at the casino. Many people considered him friend and he touched their lives in significant ways.
Cindy would like to thank all who visited with Gary during his illness and treatment, providing variety for him and a break for her. You know who you are.
Gary will be interred according to his wishes at the Tahoma National Cemetery. Piper Morley is handling the arrangements. Please sign the guestbook while you're on this site.
