Obituary of Vera H. Adams
Vera H. Adams, 88, 'went home' while surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, July 23, 2016 in Tacoma, WA.
She was born in Lynchburg, VA and lived in Japan and Hawaii as part of her huband James' military career. She is survived by her son and daughter, James Adams and Donna Pederson (Forrest); two grandsons, Kurt Pederson and Jake Pederson. Also a brother in FL, Gerald Hammack (Patricia), along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Adams, in 1982.
Vera led a life of serving others during her volunteer work with East Side Christian Church where she was a deaconess and past-president of the Women's Fellowship. She was a past Worthy Matron of Ivy Chapter #43 Order of the Eastern Star and was very active in the Cedar Assembly for Rainbow Girls and the Campfire Girls organization as well as the Daughters of Scotia organization. Vera and one of her best friends, Ruth Beckham, worked together to start up one of the first FISH Food Banks in East Tacoma. She was always first to volunteer to staff a coffee stop or put on a turkey dinner or anything else needed by anyone.
We will all remember Vera for her kind spirit and her joy of life. She was the best wife, mother, grandmother and friend that a person could ever imagine having.
Very requested to not have a formal funeral service but instead a memorial celebration. This celebration is scheduled for Sunday, August 14, 2016, 1:00 pm, at 1046 Fir Park Lane, Fircrest, WA 98466. Please call 253-564-4040 with any questions.
