Obituary of David Anthony Minnitti

Dave Minnitti passed away on May 13, 2014 at the age of 95. He was born in Carbonado, WA on Sept. 22, 1918. Dave was a three-sport athlete at Bellarmine High School where he graduated in 1938. He went to work for Cammarano Bros. and played baseball in the Tacoma City League and the Valley League. Dave joined the Navy in 1942, as did many of his friends. His first station was in Olathe, Kansas where he met Josephine. They were married in 1944 then moved to Tacoma in 1945, where he continued to work for Cammarano Bros., then eventually retired from State Distributor as a Wine Salesman. He loved bowling, golf, played horseshoes and billiards. Dave played baseball and umpired both baseball-softball games for many years. He was inducted into the Tacoma-Pierce County Old-Timers Baseball-Softball Association Hall of Fame. He was a member of St. Rita's Catholic Church, The Sons of Italy Lodge and a life time member of the Amvets Yankee Doodle Life Post 5 and the Tacoma Elks. Dave was proceeded in death by his wife Josephine (Jo) and is survived by his son David (Viviane), daughter Michele (Tom), 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Dave will be missed by his loving family and friends. A Rosary beginning at 10:15 am will be followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at St. Rita's Catholic Church 1403 S. Ainsworth Ave. Tacoma.
