Obituary
Obituary of Joseph Douglas
Joseph Clarence Douglas went to be with our Lord on the afternoon of Wednesday, December 18, 2013. Joe, as he was called by family and friends, was born on December 4, 1935 and was 78 years old when he passed away peacefully in the presence of his wife, Elisabeth and his youngest daughter, Andrea.
Joe was born in Coulee City, WA and spent most of his growing up years in Bremerton, WA. He met and fell in love with his wife, Elisabeth, in Germany where he was stationed during his time as a member of the United States Army. Joe served his country in the U.S. Army for 22 years. He then went on to be a school teacher at Bethel High School where he worked in the vocational electronics program. Among his many talents and trades, he taught at the local colleges and also served as a member of Visitation Parish for 37 years. He was also a member of The Knights of Columbus and The Radio Club of Tacoma.
Joe also spent 25 years visiting nursing homes every other weekend with his choir group, Joyful Sound, of which he and his wife were both members. He would always introduce the group and was well known for his funny hats and bright spirit! Joe loved to get up and dance or blow bubbles during special songs and truly enjoyed interacting with the crowd and bringing happiness while he was there.
Joe is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elisabeth Douglas, his four children; Daren Douglas of Texas, LouAnn League of Washington , Andrea Nieto-Douglas of Washington, and Marcus Douglas of Hawaii. He is survived by his 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Joe is also survived by two brothers, Robert Douglas and Edward Douglas and three sisters, Norita White, Janice Worth, and Beverly Pry. He was a great man and will be deeply missed by family and friends.
