Obituary of Barbara Ann Johnson

Barbara Johnson was born October 6, 1927 in Tacoma Washington and passed away November 16, 2013 at St. Joseph Hospital. Barbara graduated from St. Leo's High School at the age of seventeen, married Lyle Johnson in 1945 and made their home in the North End where they raised three children. Barbara was employed by Tacoma General Hospital for many years as an accounting clerk. She retired from WSU Extension as a secretary for the Farm & Maintenance Department. Barbara was a long time member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where she made many friends. She was also a lifetime member of DAV and VFW Narrows Bridge Post #10018 and was a Gold Star Mother. She was predeceased by her parents, Gertrude and Chester Lavine, husband Lyle Johnson, son Bradley Johnson (killed in Vietnam) and brother William Lavine. Barbara is survived by son Terry Johnson (Carol), daughter Linda Zimmerman (Gus), sisters Joan Rutherford, Karen Hunt (Robert) and Judy Zimbrick (Richard), grandchildren Tracy, Joe, Amy, Darcy and Brynn, great grandchildren Avery, Ella, Collin, Madeleine, Tatum, Mac, Phoenix and Kellen, as well as many nieces and nephews. She wished to extend special thanks to Carol Ringrose and Colleen Koval for their spiritual guidance the last few years. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, November 25, 2013 at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Franciscan Hospice House.
