Obituary of Ann S. Roberts

Ann S. Roberts, 91, was an only child of an only child who treated everyone as special and unique. She grew up in Anderson, South Carolina and was valedictorian of her high school, Mather Academy. Among her many accomplishments, she graduated in 1942 from an historically Black college - Benedict, where she taught freshman English at the age of fifteen and received her baccalaureate degree at eighteen. As a teacher and an academic librarian, she knew the power of education. Throughout her life, she shared her love of learning and the wonder of the written word. So much of who Ann was bubbles out of this wellspring of tenacious hope and belief in the human spirit. She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Lt. Col. LeRoy Roberts, Jr., a decorated Tuskegee Airmen in WWII, her son, LeRoy Roberts, III, and her granddaughter, Charlotte Factory. Ann is survived by her three daughters, Karen Robinson, M.S., Susan Roberts, and Dr. Cheryl Roberts, her son-in-law Miller Adams, Esq., her grandson, Christopher Robinson and two great grandchildren, David Isaiah Donaldson and MaKailah Robinson.
