Obituary of Rebecca Lynn Fritterer

Rebecca Lynn Fitterer died peacefully at home on March 1, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Becky was the second of six children born in the Pedersen family. She grew up in Richland, Washington, and was an expert waterskiier on the Columbia River. She graduated from high school in 1971, then moved to Tacoma in her twenties. She met her future husband of 38 years, David Fitterer, when she walked into the auto parts store where Dave worked and asked him for help with her faulty alternator. They were married at her grandparents' home in South Tacoma. Becky and Dave raised three wonderful children in the Puyallup area, where their house was a center of fun, joy and activity for many years. When her children were young, Becky loved playing tennis; she obtained a Master Gardener certification, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family. When her children had grown, she earned a bachelor's degree with an emphasis in nutrition science and worked for a time with the state's WIC and food stamp education programs. In later years Becky and Dave moved to West Seattle, where Becky designed and oversaw construction of a unique custom home for the family, a perfect backdrop for her most recent passions: one of a kind Venetian plaster projects she sold and installed in upscale homes, custom quilts, and naturalistic silk art that won awards and received a gallery showing. Becky's artistic life was beginning to flourish as she neared her death, and her family can only imagine all the unique creations she would have made if she had had more time. Becky was preceded in death by her father, Lester Thomas Pedersen. She is survived by her mother, Patricia Bannan Pedersen of Manchester; her brothers Tom(Catherine), Ken(Donna), and Patrick(Lisa); her sisters Mary(Jim) and Eileen(Dan); dozens of wonderful aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins, her husband Dave, her children Dylan(Elizabeth), Erik(Brooke) and Carolynn, and her much beloved grandchildren, Lorelei, Cameron, Grant and Joseph. The family would like to thank Dr. Henry Li and the oncology staffs of Swedish hospital and the Polyclinic for their dedication and care..
