William Hoggatt born April 7, 1931 in Wennachee Washington to Siegel Elisha and Anna Hoggatt. In youth he worked the fields picking apples. Later he worked for a rodeo for a time riding bulls, eventually working for Ringling Brothers Circus. Tall for his age, he joined the U.S. Army in 1946 at the age of 15 1/2. His duty stations included various Forts throughout the U.S. as well as Panama, Post war Germany, France and two tours in Vietnam and Korea. He was in the Infantry, Tanks Engineers, and an instructor at the Academy for Transportation. He retired after 24 years of Honorable Service. He was awarded various medals as well as the Army Commendation medal. He worked for Tacoma General Hospital and Buffalin woodworking company. He was an avid fly fisher and held an interest in politics. His hobbies included collecting military artifacts and weaponry. He was a member of the Steilacoom Lodge as a 32 degree Mason, Scottish Rights and Shriners. He also was a member of the NRA, Vietnam Veterans and the Elks. He is survived by Louisa (Jean)Hoggatt, children Norman Lee, Anna and Jessie; step children; Peter, Clifford, Vicki and David. He had 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Military Honors will be presented at a Friends and Family memorial service on March 8, at 11 A.M. at Tahoma National Cemetery. Father, Husband, Grandfather, Great grandfather and Friend..... He will be missed by many......
