Obituary of Berniece Loyd

Berniece Loyd, was born September 25, 1918, in Everett, Washington, to Byron Von Shepherd and Gertrude Luff Shepherd and passed away December 6, 2012, at her home in Tacoma. She grew up in Selah, graduated Selah High in 1936, and married her high school sweetheart in 1940. Berniece and Curdele (Lefty) owned and managed 6th Avenue Lanes in Tacoma for 23 years. They enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and clamming together after retirement and loved sharing the outdoors with their children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by those who survive her: son, Kevin Loyd (Kathy); daughter, Sheila N. Loyd; daughter-in-law, Sheila M. Loyd; grandchildren: Dana, Jeff, Melissa (Chris), Justin and Joshua; great-grandchildren: Tasha, Whitney, Emma, Jeffrey (Anne), Trevor, Jordan, and Trenton; great-great-grandchildren: Kaitlin and Kylee; two sisters: Helen Hursey and Gloria Lighthart; and one brother, Preston Shepherd. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years; her son, Dean Loyd; two sisters: Byrdeen Preston and Phyllis Conger; and one brother, Kevin Shepherd.
