Obituary of James D. Patten

James D. Patten May 1926 - Nov 2012 A true Tacoman and proud member of the Greatest Generation peacefully passed away Nov. 26 with his family at his side. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, A. Joan Patten, son Kevin (Mary) daughter Kerry (Mike) Ladner and son Kent. Seven Grand Children and 4 Great-Grand Children. He proudly served his country in WWII with the 4th Marine Division. After the war, he graduated from Lincoln HS in 1947. He joined the Tacoma Police Dept. in July 1949 and medically retired in 1971. He was a proud member of : the Retired Tacoma Police Officers Association, AMVETS Post 5, VFW, Sons of Italy, Eagles and American Legion. He always met his friends with a smile and a new joke. A friend once said, "I like your Dad, he makes me feel good." He enjoyed all sports, especially golf, with a hole-in-one in 1996. He seldom missed a practice, game or event for any of his children or Grandkids. He was our Hero. An Open House Celebration of his Life will be held Jan 12, 2013, at AMVETS's Post 1, 5717 S. Tyler St. Tacoma starting at 1 p.m.
