Obituary of Pearl R. Whetstine

Pearl R. Whetstine died peacefully at home Saturday, February 27 from complications of congestive heart failure. Pearl was born September 26, 1928 in Washington, Iowa to Ira Ransom and Anna Marie Tusing Amlong. Pearl was married to Charles Edward Whetstine, Jr. from Wellman, Iowa. Pearl and Charles had six children: Charles E. Whetstine III, wife Rhonda Smith, Tacoma; Barbara Lee Whetstine Gumbert, husband Michael Gumbert, Puyallup; Sandra Jo Whetstine Clement, husband Creed Clement, Olympia; J. C. Whetstine deceased; Richard Duane Whetstine, Puyallup; and Anthony Wayne Whetstine, wife Rebecca, Spanaway. Pearl has 15 grandchildren and 17 great grand children. Pearl volunteered at St. Joseph Medical Center, All Saints Catholic School, and with the Pierce County Election Board. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, one son, her parents, five sisters and one brother. Pearl will be creamated. She will then rest in the Garden of Memories at Oakwood Hill Cemetery. Pearl specifically stated in her will she did not want a memorial or funeral service. She further stated she wanted everyone to go have a grand party and have one for her.
