Obituary of Elaine Rodgers Turnbull
Elaine Rogers Turnbull, of Olympia, died on April 28, 2007. She was born in Tacoma, Washington on November 26, 1926. Elaine graduated from Lincoln High School in Tacoma in the Class of 1944. She married Roger Turnbull in 1947, and they moved to Montesano in 1957. She moved to Olympia in 1977, and she and Roger divorced in 1981. She proudly worked for Yenney Music Company in Olympia for many years, retiring in 1994. She loved bingo and going to Reno. Over the years, she also enjoyed rollerskating, skiing, square dancing, bowling, fishing on the Columbia River, swimming, playing cards, cribbage, and pool. She loved to laugh and have a good time. She always took time to do something nice for someone in need. Wherever she lived or went, she made friends. She was loved by her family and friends and will be sorely missed. In her own words, "I have had a good life. My daughters brought me much joy." She leaves behind three daughters, Vickie Gross (Hap), of Montesano, Washington, Susan Bauthues (Jerry), of Nooksack, Washington, and Sally Turnbull Marsh (Mike), of Olympia. In addition, she has six grandchildren, Dave Gross, Dan Gross, Matt Bauthues, Megan Gardner, Molly Bauthues, and Emily Marsh; and three great-grandchildren, Levi Gross, Sophia Bauthues, and Abigail Gardner. A brother, M.E. "Bud" Rogers, and his wife, Neva, of Tacoma, also survive, in addition to many nieces and nephews, and several special friends. At her request, there will be no services. A family gathering is being planned later this year to honor and celebrate her life. If you wish to make a donation in Elaine's memory, her favorite charity is the American Diabetes Association, 1730 Minor Avenue, Suite 920, Seattle, Washington, 98101, (206) 282-4616.
