Obituary of Donald Jerome Stuhr

Donald Jerome Stuhr Together Again Donald Jerome Stuhr, born on March 17, 1921 near Buffalo, Minnesota, youngest son of Rudolph and Rose Stuhr, passed away on November 12, 2009. Don served in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II stationed at McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, Washington where he met his future wife, Ruth Simpson. They married in 1948 in Minneapolis, where they raised two daughters. In 1964, the family moved to Tacoma and established their home in Lakewood. Don worked as an auto mechanic and retired from the IAM in 1981 after 38 years of service. Don was a member of Amvets Post #1 for over 20 years, Eagles Lodge #3 over 25 years and a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4322. Don is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, after 57 years of marriage. Survivors are daughters, Margaret Stuhr of Lacey, Washington; Janet Stuhr Wood and son-in-law Harold Wood of Visalia, California; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Gerrick of Blaine, Minnesota and Margaret Peterson of Tacoma; two brothers-in-law, JR Rogers and Chuck Peterson of Tacoma, a well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank friends and neighbors, as well as many health care professionals, for their help and kindness to Donald during the last 3 years. The Rosary will be recited 10:30AM Friday, November 20, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church.
