Obituary of Robert Henry Speer

Robert H. Speer (Bob) passed away early in the morning on Sunday, May 6th, at home surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind his wife of 16 years, Rose Cinq-Mars Speer, his son Robbie Speer and his wife Colleen, his daughter Lisa Potts and her husband Wayne, and his grandchildren Carli, Adam, Aaron, and Alex. Other family members include Conrad (dec), Francis, and Charlie and the Cinq-Mars grandchildren Jenny, Darcy, Jason, Josh, Jean Luc, Kara J., and Jonathon. Bob was born in Natrona, PA on July 1st 1930 where he began his military career. He served 20 years of in the US Army, retiring in 1970 as 'RA Staff Sargent '. He then retired in 1985 from the Postal Service. Robert spent much of his time volunteering with the DAV as a service officer, helping fellow veterans. While in the army as a cable splicer, he served in Japan, Thailand, Korea, Vietnam, Iceland, and Germany. After his retirement he served as a voluntary service officer at American Lake , where he volunteered over 7,600 hours. Bob will be most remembered as a loving husband, father and grandpa. The commital service will be at Tahoma National Cemetary in Kent on May 15th, at 9:15 in the morning, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Tacoma (140 East 56th St, Tacoma). His passions were travelling around the country and working in his garden.
