I am sorry to hear that Sgt. Sonntag has passed. When I first went to work at McNeil Island he was one of my supervisors. Always kind and took the time to teach new officers what was expected while working in a prison. He also had a great sense of humor. He has been missed at MICC.
When I was a classroom teacher at Jason Lee Junior High School, Dick was one of my pupils. From those early days, he displayed a talent for being straightforward and very practical. I liked him as a person then and was always proud of the positive contributions he made throughout his life in our community.
