Obituary of Richard Ernest Smith

Richard Ernest Smith, age 80, of Tacoma, WA passed away on Friday July 3, 2009 at Franciscan Hospice House in University Place. Richard was born in Ripley, Ohio on October 24, 1928 to Daniel Edward and Minnie Mabel Smith. He joined the United States Army in 1946, serving in World War II and Vietnam, retired after 20 years of service at the rank of Master Sergeant in November of 1970. After retiring from the Army, he worked as a Security Guard for a number of years at Tacoma General Hospital. Richard will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday July 10, 2009 at the Piper-Morley-Mellinger Funeral Chapel, burial to follow Tacoma Cemetery.
