Obituary of Herman Thomas Richardson

Herman T. Richardson Jr., First Sergeant in the 119th Assault Helicopter CO. He was honorably discharged in March 1983. He was an excellent military man. The following are his accomplishments: Good Conduct Medal (5th award), Army Commendation Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon "1", Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon "1", Vietnam Service Medal W/4 (Bronze Star), National Defense Service Ribbon, Vietnam Cross Gallantry W/Palm, Expert Badge W/Rifle Bar, Vietnam Service Medal. Herman was born in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Most of his adolescence was lived in Georgia. He was always a Southern boy. Especially when it came to food and hospitality. By the time he turned 18, the army gave him a choice: enlist, or get drafted, so Herman enlisted and did his best to protect our freedom and democracy. Herman was a great storyteller. At his age he remembered every little detail in every story. If you got a topic started, Herman would definitely have something to say, and with a twinkle in his eyes. And for that everyone loved him. Herman loved: Fishing, Playing and watching Baseball, Hunting, Swimming, and a tremendous love for God, his friends, and his country. He had a generous heart, and always donated for the right cause. He was a strong believer in the right to bear arms and always carried a gun for personal and public safety. The love of his life was his deceased wife Gerda (Lisa). She passed on in 1993. He eventually worked through this challenging part of his life through the help of Pastors Tom Isenhart, also the Clergyman at his Memorial Service, Lance Powers, as well as the church prayer team, and support from other members of the church. We are very happy to know that he is now with her. Herman will always be fondly remembered, and missed.
