Evelyn Reed was born to Hargie Matthews Jr. and Ella Wease Matthews in Fairfield, Alabama. Evelyn is the mother of three children: Preston Reed Jr., Theresa Reed and Gerald Reed; also survived by grandchildren: James Angelo (Campbell) Reed and Marcus Reed; sisters: Virginia Ann Pace, Ophelia Jacobs Matthews and Gwen Tyler; brothers: Aldridge (Matt) Matthews, Virgil Matthews and Nathaniel Matthews.
