Obituary of Mildred M. Marshall
Mildred M. Marshall, called Marsha by her friends, passed away on May 3, 2008.
She was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts in 1923. Upon graduating from high school, she served in the Navy during World War II. She attended George Washington University earning a BA degree in Geography. She worked for the federal government for four years before joining the Air Force. She retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 23 years of combined active and reserve service.
She belonged to the Women in the Military Service Association (WIMSA), Air Force Women Officer's Association (AFOSA), and the Unity Church of Tacoma.
She had an adventurous spirit and realized her dream to go around the world - twice. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her brother, Mel Marshall from Florida, a niece in Hawaii, and two nephews in Connecticut and Massachusetts, as well as many cousins in Canada where her parents were born. She is also survived by her dearest friend Leonard J. Brunell of Tacoma.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 9th at 11:00 am at the Unity Center of Tacoma. Donations may be made to the Unity Center in lieu of flowers.
