Joseph passed away on 2/19/09 at Franciscan Hospice House in Tacoma,
Washington. He leaves behind three sons, Joseph Jr. of Southfield Michigan, James of Southfield Michigan and William of Myrtle Beach South Carolina.
He was born in NYC, New York to John and Florence Mannix on 12/02/38
where he spent his early years. He completed college with an Aeronautical Engineer Degree and soon entered the Army with an ROTC commission. He married the love of his life Barbra Murray and began his Military career. The years that followed his military service took him to many parts of the world including Vietnam. His military awards include the Bronze Star, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal the Combat Infantry Badge and the Legion of Merit. His final assignment was to the Pentagon where he retired in 1982. He spent the majority of his retirement traveling the world and helping others. He was a strong supporter of Bill W. and acted as sponsor to countless individuals. Joseph leaves a lasting legacy through his sons and countless friends. He will be missed by all.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, 2/24/09 at the Oakwood Hill Chapel followed by a military ceremony at 2:00 PM in Tahoma National Cemetery.
