Obituary of Alan Henry Johnson

Alan Henry Johnson, 54, was born April 10, 1954 in Bellingham, WA and passed away peacefully in his Tacoma home on Christmas morning (2008) with his partner of 27 years, Michael Barrett, at his side. Alan's mother, Luella Johnson, was also in the home when Alan died. She came to Tacoma to spend the holidays with her son. Alan graduated from high school in Ferndale, WA and later graduated from a business school in Seattle. Throughout the years, Alan made his home in Seattle, Port Orchard and Tacoma. Alan is survived by his parents, Max & Luella Johnson of Advent Christian Village in Dowling Park, Florida, his partner Michael Barrett of Tacoma, WA, his sister Helen Green of Batavia, IL, sister-in-law Debbie Johnson of Batavia, IL, Carol Spurrier a dear friend and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and especially by everyone at Rise-N-Shine, where Alan volunteered for 20 years. Alan was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis M. Johnson. "Your flame might have gone out my dear, but the flame that you instilled in others throughout your life will burn bright for eternity." We all love you and will miss you deeply. A celebration of Alan's life will be held at Rise-n-Shine on April 18, 2009 from 1-4 PM. Rise-n-Shine is located at 417 23rd Ave. S., Seattle, WA 98144. This is a potluck gathering.
