Obituary of Eddie G. Hickey
Eddie Gordon Hickey Born May 24, 1926 in International Falls, Minnesota; died June 25, 2007 after an extended illness. During WWII he served aboard the USS Lackawanna. He married Jeanette Carrier in 1947 and moved to Tacoma, Wa. After joining the fire department in 1954 as a firefighter, he rose to become the Deputy Fire Chief of Tacoma. He retired in 1979 after 25 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, skier and traveler. Despite his interests, his family was always his primary focus. He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, of 60 years; his children, Helen Cousineau, Jo Ann Noel (Roy), Gordon Hickey (Sandra), Bruce Hickey (Diana), and Carol Hemel (Joe); 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Piper-Morley-Mellinger Funeral Home, 253-472-3353, Saturday, June 30th at 10:00 a.m. Reception following the service will be at the Firefighters Hall, 1109 South 50th St., Tacoma. Donations may be made to St. Joseph's Hospital Burn Center in Tacoma in Eddie's name.
