I met Maggie when she retired from USGS; I replaced her as Bill Campbell's secretary. I always enjoyed hearing about all her trips and all the contests she entered.....AND won! She was always cheerful and sweet. I still use the keychain she gave me in 1984! Al and I send our deepest sympathies to her family; our thoughts and prayers are with you. "A loved one will never be gone; they always live on in your heart."

I met Margaret at an Elderhostel event in September of 2006. Her hand at that time was swollen, and I promised to send her some nutritional supplements that would help her. She was very sweet and friendly. We did talk on the phone once. I miss her emails and forwards, and when they stopped coming, I became concerned. Today, Dec. 28th, I called her house and asked her husband if I could speak with her, but he said that she wasn't there at the moment. I asked if she was okay, and he said no but that he would call me later to explain. So I decided to look her up in the obituaries, and there I found that she is now enjoyable the most wonderful adventure of all: being in the presence of the Lord in all His glory. My condolences to Jim and the rest of the family. I will keep her and all of you in my prayers.

Our sincere condolences from my sister Carol and I to the family. We knew Maggie in the fifties, when we moved to Tacoma and our father started a USGS office there. Maggie and the others on the staff there were our social life to begin with, and we had a lot of fun together on trips and get-togethers. Maggie was so good-natured and so much fun. When we saw her in October at our mother's memorial service, she looked just the same, full of spirit and life. I know she will be greatly missed. Sincerely, Maurene Mundorff Smith

Our deepest sympathies to Jim and family. We have had the great fortune, to sit at mass, in the pew in front of Margaret, for the past 4 years at least. Our two adopted boys, have learned a great lesson on how to act at mass, and to hear her beautiful voice. The vacant pew has left us with a great sense of loss. Our love, prayers & thoughts. The Roberts family

Maggie was a long-timer at the USGS when I started. I'm now retired but still have very fond memories of Maggie. Her friendliness and good humor brightened many a day for me. I'll miss her at the USGS retirement breakfasts.

Our sympathy to the family of Maggie Hellyer-Malesky and Jim Malesky. Maggie was a co-worker of mine at the USGS for many years. To me she was a true pioneer and role model. An independent lady and example to other women of that independence. She was a caring individual that always had a smile on her face and a big hug. She will be missed.
