"Snuffy" Alfred H. Gleason, Sr. passed from this world on October 16th, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. He moved with his family to Tacoma, WA when his father was hospitalized with TB at Cushman Indian Hospital, on the Puyallup Indian Reservation. He was a very proud member of the Tlingit-Haida Tribe and a stock holder in Sea-Alaska Corporation Snuffy was a butcher by trade, an auto mechanic by necessity and an expert Goodwill shopper by design. He loved looking for bargains for himself, his family and friends. Alfreds' parents, his sister Caroline Weber, his brothers James Gleason Jr., Benjamin Gleason, Eric Jensen, and his son Robert Gleason preceded him to set up camp on the other side. Left behind to mourn his passing and to treasure his memory are his loving and caring wife Delores Allen Gleason, his sisters Nell Marie Berger, Dolores Lowe and Isabel La Pointe, his daughters Theodolinda Owens, Stella Corbin, Althea Gleason, Jennifer Gleason, Bradley Gleason, his sons Alfred Henry Gleason, Jr., Anthony Gleason, John Joseph Gleason, his daughter Rosanne Snelson, sons Anthony Herrera, David Herrera and Louis Herrera. Snuffy's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to his caretakers at Tacoma General Hospital, Takopid Health Authority and Hospice for their loving attention to his needs and wishes during his 10 month battle with cancer. Dr's Chen, Reike, Varelli, Shelton and Barnett girded him well and provided much understanding and comfort during this time. All of our thanks to hospice nurses Tom and LeAnn for their loving touch and care. The family will be eternally grateful to the Puyallup Tribe for their kindness and generosity during this most difficult time. Many people have stepped forward to help and their efforts are genuinely appreciated. Lastly, we would like to single out Elsie Thomas for her tireless efforts and eternal friendship to assist Snuffy and his loved ones on behalf of the Puyallup Tribe.
