Obituary of Orville Gilbert
Orville Gilbert Was born on May 4, 1957 in Olympia, WA., and died peacefully on October 5, 2007 in Tacoma, WA. Orv loved life and family. Everyone he met was an instant friend. He enjoyed fishing, yard work and long walks. His passion was cooking for family, friends and many fundraisers. Orv's big heart, loving personality, and ability to entertain will be deeply missed. He belonged to the Order of Ahepa and was appointed a commission by Governor Gregoire. He is survived by his wife, Heidi; children, Allyson and Michael; father, Floyd Gilbert; sisters, Catherine Stephens, Dorothy (Tim) Root-Ferguson, and Sue (Kelley) Mooers; mother-in-law, Helen Manthou; and brothers-in-law, Chris (Susie), Spiro (Sandy), Frank (Judi) Manthou and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and other countless family and friends. He is preceded in death by mother, Greta Gilbert, who passed earlier this year. We would like to thank Tacoma General ICU for all of their wonderful care. Private family services will be held prior. Please join us to celebrate Orv's life on Friday, October 12th, 2007 at South Park Community Center, 4851 S. Tacoma Way at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Columbia Bank in the name of the Gilbert family.
