Obituary
Obituary of Annie Josephine Cronkright Peterson
Annie was born in MN on August 21, 1919 to C.P (Pete) and Anna Howe Christensen and was one of eight children. She went home to be with the Lord on March 9, 2009. Annie was raised on the family homesteaded farm and attended a one room country school a mile from home through 8th grade. She always wanted more education and after many years attended several night school classes at Franklin Pierce High School, to later proudly pass her G.E.D. test. Always a hard worker, Annie was a cook and/or waitress for several years in MN and WA, then worked for many years at Fors hatchery inETacoma, retiring at 67 years of age. She was a homemaker in every sense; a great cook, besides making her own bread, delicious pies and cinnamon rolls, also canning fruits and vegetables, etc. No one visited her home and left hungry. Annie was married to George Cronkright of Tacoma for 32 years, then to Eugene (Gene) Peterson of Midland for 10 years. She loved to travel, especially cruises through the Panama Canal and around the Caribbean or by train to visit family in MN. Music and dancing was a passion that she and Gene shared, often going three afternoons a week. Annie loved being with people. With her ready smile and talkativeness, Annie made many friends everywhere she went. Annie leaves behind her sister, Ella Brynjulfson of Osakis, MN; her four children, June (Gene) Asselstine, Carol (Dick) Charette, Dennis (Carol) Christensen, and Dean (Linda) Christensen, also 11 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren, besides many extended family members. Annie was a strong lady overcoming many trials and illnesses in her life time but even as the butterfly endures, struggles and overcomes to emerge from its cocoon finally free, so Annie is now free and rejoicing with her Lord. Viewing 4-7 PM Sunday at the Piper-Morley-Mellinger Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 1PM Monday in the Piper-Morley-Mellinger Chapel, 253-472-3353. If desired memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
