George Campbell September 7, 1912-August 23, 2009
George was born in Brooks, Alberta on September 7, 1912 to Charles and Alma Campbell and passed away on August 23, 2009 just short of his 97th birthday in Tacoma. He leaves his loving wife, Evelyn of 68 years; son, Darrell of Seattle; daughter Vicki Campbell Stasch (Dick Shirk) of Visalia, California and Anacortes Washington; grandsons Morgan Stasch (wife Jennifer) and Brandon Stasch (wife Meg) both in the San Francisco Bay area; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Alexandria Stasch and Drew Campbell Stasch and several nieces and nephews and a grand dog, Louie (cocker spaniel) Shirk.
George graduated from Auburn High School and worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps at Mud Mountain Dam during the Great Depression. He spent his career working as a ship fitter at Bremerton Naval Ship Yards. He was a member of Tacoma Area 3 Eagles.
George loved the out doors. In his younger years he enjoyed salmon fishing and deer hunting. In his later years he enjoyed playing cards many a day at the South Park Sr. Center. George was a handyman continuously repairing his and Evelyn's home.
The family would like to thank the staff at Tacoma General Hospital. Rosemarie with Catholic Social Services and Dr. Craig Romney for their wonderful assistance during the last months of George's life. Thank you also to the wonderful friends and family members who have been so supportive and helpful.
