Obituary of Herriett A. Baker
Herriett Baker, 85, a resident of the Tacoma area for over 50 years, died Nov. 13, 2010 in Tacoma. Daughter of Levi and Evelyn McCumber, she was born May 21, 1925 in Salem, OR. Herriett was very proud of her Irish and Scottish heritage. Herriett was an avid reader, rose gardener, and cook. She loved Irish music and Mexican food. Her love of knowledge brought her to Tacoma Community College, where she obtained two degrees and made the President's list twice. She was a charter member of Western Travelers, The Puget Sound Poetry Connection, and the Tacoma Writers Club. Two of her writings were published nationally. She was gifted in many ways. Her family members include Clayton, her husband of 43 years, children Carol Hamre of Chicago, Curtis (Wendy) Jackson of Everett, WA, Christie (Roger) Dinelt, Marcia (Paul) Miller, Sheila Cole and Wendy Gallier, all of Tacoma, WA, 11 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
