Obituary of Margaret Edith Condrey

Margaret (Thompson) Condrey, affectionately known as Marg was born March 20, 1926 in Wingate, North Carolina to the late Ed Thompson Sr. and Dora (Maske) Thompson. She was the eldest of eight children born of this union. At the age of two years old Ed Thompson Sr. and Dora moved the family to Waynesburg, Ohio. Margaret confessed Christ at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church in Waynesburg, Ohio. Margaret graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1944 and on February 11, 1946 Margaret was united in Holy Matrimony to James T. Condrey (deceased) of Youngstown, Ohio, this union lasted until the death of her husband James T. Condrey on January 21, 1999 they were happily married for fifty-three years. James and Margaret moved to Washington State in 1946 were James served in the Armed Forces of the United States and after James separation from the Armed Forces of the United States they settled in Tacoma Washington. What is a true Christian Women Margaret E. Condrey, exemplifies a true Women of God, she served God as a Child growing up in Waynesburg, Ohio and becoming a member a Macedonia Baptist Church and then later as an adult she served faithfully for 60 years as a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Tacoma, Washington and she was there to help build a new Church. Margaret prayed in the morning, at noon day and also at night. She talked to the Lord all the time and is living proof that God is real and that God does answer prayer. Bethlehem Baptist Church has honored Margaret on many occasions for various acts of service to the Church such as her years of dedicated service and hard work in the Church, many years of service on the Usher Board, the Building Fund Board, her service as a member of the Choir serving with the Women's committee that visited nursing homes on Wednesday's, and many other special committees in the Church. Even though Margaret lived in Tacoma Washington, she also maintained her family ties and faithfulness to Macedonia Baptist Church, in Waynesburg, Ohio. Margaret received a commendation from Pierce County Auditor of the State Washington as being a Hall of Famer Voter for over sixty years. Margaret graduated from Tacoma Community College in June of Nineteen Seventy-six, she became a school teacher at Bryant Elementary School she retired on September 1, 1993 after her retirement Margaret worked tirelessly in the Church. Margaret traveled extensively and enjoyed her family and friends. Every year she returned home to go with her family to the Maske family reunion. Margaret was a fashion diva and enjoyed shopping and staying up on the latest fashion trends. Margaret loved hats of all kinds and she wore them well. In January 2010, Margaret moved back to Cleveland, Ohio and resided with her sister Karen L. Ray, where she resided until her death. Margaret's illness was short lived and her trust and faith in the Lord carried her through and on home to Glory and to be with the Lord. Margaret E. Condrey will be most remembered for what she left behind, passing at 84, on December 10, 2010, home with her family by her side. Margaret leaves behind a long legacy of Love for Her Family, but most of all a host of family, extended family and friends who loved her, including: loving Sisters Karen L. Ray of Cleveland and Louise Hatchett, of Canton, Ohio, Brothers Edward Thompson (Norma Jean), Leroy Thompson (Silver), Ed Thompson Jr., all of Canton, Ohio , Bessie Herron and Clara Hart her Sisters-In-Law, of Youngstown, Ohio Two Sisters who preceded her in death: Doreatha Grimes and Helen Dicks both formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, her loving Nieces Yvonne R. Grimes, Tekara L. Ray and Kristen B. Shumate all of Cleveland, Ohio, 27 nieces and nephews and a very special friend Geanann Mack host of other family and friends of the Thompson, Maske and Barrino family. Two God-sons Anthony Powell and Michael Powell: One God- daughter, Jenine Bassinger, Ursula Johansmeier, Paul and her lifelong friend, Josephine Carter all of Tacoma Washington. Margaret has a host of other friends and loved ones in Tacoma, Washington where she resided for over 60 years, they are too numerous to name but, please know that she loved all of you. The family would like to thank Aunt Margaret's caregivers Kimberly Hall, Brenda Campbell and the staff of The Hospice of the Western Reserve for helping to take care of our beloved Aunt Margaret.
